The last couple of weeks found me going around an idea that maybe some of you will find close to your heart. Everything started on a cold sunny day at the beach.

Since few people are walking around in the wintertime, the sand is like an empty canvas, making me feel like an artist getting ready to create something or a newborn prepared to start walking.

I went back and forth a few times, stopped and took a picture of my footprints. What a mess, to say the least! Somehow my mind made a direct analogy with the times we currently live globally.

    Could it be different?
Can I do something about it to make it better?

What can I learn from the challenges and difficulties we have been facing?

I looked again at the sand, and slowly a couple of ideas emerged in my mind, almost like a revelation of biblical proportions.

I understood that I never question where to place a line on the ground that I am not willing to cross. I probably didn’t do it because I always thought I would never need to do so except for extreme situations like war, famine, or something that rarely occurs, which was the case until last year.

I also understood that not defining your limits as a human allows others to constantly change the space available, changing the goalpost little by little. If the situation continues, soon, I will be trapped between the sand and the ocean, which is not good. So, I did the exercise, and surprisingly the answer was not complicated.

If you become a hostage of fear and lose the capacity to talk rationally and peacefully, you will fall into the abyss, which is the place we are approaching dangerously.

    We need to stop, now!
We need to draw a line and step back.

This is a fundamental question that can only be answered individually, not by a tv channel, politician, or health professional.

Do you know where your line stands?
How far are you prepared to go to keep your humanity?

Your answer should be clear and will stay with you for the rest of your life because you will be asked about it one day.

And by the way (inspired by a message I received today from a WM Alumni)

Since we all have to get through this one way or the other
why don’t you go on with your life and make a masterpiece of it?

In the meantime, we are about to close the year, and we have one more program to go. If you need a little help to do such an important exercise, maybe you want to join us at the Year-end in Colmeal, the land of silence. Some things you can only see when there are no distractions around, and this program can make that happen at the moment when you need it.

We are back on the road with the Podcast – Keep Walking With Me – and we had the pleasure to talk with Jake Haupert, a wonderful human being that happens to be the co-founder of the Transformational Travel Council (TTC), an organization that focuses on the intentionality of travelling to stretch, learn and grow into new ways of being and engaging with the world and which Walking Mentorship is a proud member.
