Last week when we recorded our Podcast with Tim Vieira (by the way, well worth listening to here), at a given point, he mentioned that he prefers to be an optimist who is proven wrong sometimes than a pessimist that is right the same amount of times.

At first, this seems obvious, almost a no-brainer… but think again.

We are considering the same amount of times that things go wrong.
This means the underlying reality is the same – the same amount of failure.
But the experience is totally different. If you are optimistic, you feel better, have more energy and motivation, and set yourself up for success.

On the other hand, if you are pessimistic, it’s like you set yourself up for failure. Besides not getting motivation and energy, you will feel worst and defeated. And as your ego doesn’t like to be wrong, you might actually be self-sabotaging yourself. Just to prove yourself right.

This is not to argue that you should be unreasonably optimistic or delirious, on the contrary, you should be realistic. Life will bring you challenges, and failure is always a possibility.

But you must also trust yourself to make it happen, envision a future you desire, and believe it can come to fruition. Set yourself up for success, aim high and rally your energy on a worthy cause. Accept the challenge as an opportunity, brave the storm, enjoy, live it fully, and trust yourself!

Which brings me to the Fox – Oeste for the friends.

Three weeks ago we had our program in the Oeste with a perfect group of wonderful people.
We stayed at Casal da Zargatinha, a very special place with amazing hosts. As we were having dinner in the outdoor dining area, Oeste showed up. A beautiful fox that instead of running from us, stayed and even returned. She kept her distance – I guess she’s optimistic, not insane – but clearly saw an opportunity to get some food* and interact with some friendly humans, which brought even more magic to our program. The fox was swiftly baptised Oeste by the younger participants, and one of them made the drawing that inspired this text.

Walking Mentorship - Walk with you towards the best version of ourselves

We had an amazing summer filled with fabulous programs – Parents & Kids in July, one Signature program in August, a program in Switzerland on the Col du Grand San Bernard, the program in Oeste and still one Parents & Kids Day with the Brave Generation Academy.
We witnessed the magic of an optimistic fox and countless optimistic participants who dared to believe they could improve themselves and live a more fulfilling and meaningful life.
Are you ready to be an optimist?

P.S.* The drawing on the article’s cover was done by one of our participants and we can guarantee that we didn’t feed the fox, and honestly, she didn’t seem hungry, more curious than anything else.
